Tuinstraat 193I, 1015 PC Amsterdam, Netherlands
This piece is a deeper exploration of the simple commercialisation of national icon, that in turn came was the product of a commercial enterprise. The tulip bubble boom of the 16th century is still studied today by economists, however, that doesn't mean that tulips are not a commercially viable. The wooden tulip is another step in the monetisation of this icon and by exploring this process I am partly aiming to reclaim this icon, however, in doing so am I creating the possibility of another financial bubble in relation to the artwork itself?
